*Access:
The language Resource Centre is open to:
· Those enrolled in a language class
· UN Secretariat staff (UNOG, UNCTAD, OHCHR, ECE, OCHA, UNIDIR, UNITAR, UNRWA, OIOS, DDA, UNEP, UNRISD)

Services:


The centre is open for self-study. It is free for those eligible* and offers:


· A library with materials you can consult on the premises for learning French and English
· (language textbooks, binders of educational materials, dictionaries, CD-ROMs, videos )

· A catalogue of materials which can only be used in the Resource Centre.


· A computer lab equipped with multimedia terminals; DVD, video, and cassette players
(online educational websites, educational software, multimedia documents)


· A news corner: The Week magazine, The Guardian Weekly, Newsweek


· A language teacher available to assist

Using the Centre:

1) When you arrive at the centre, sign in on the register at the entrance.
2) Choose a spot in the “Self-Study“ section of the centre
3) Depending on your needs:

Select a book from the shelves (catalogue available on request)
Access your resource materials on the computer (English language menu).
Ask at the desk for materials not available in the reading room (CD-ROMs, videos).
Ask the teacher in the office for information, guidance, or individualized help (see the tabulated material opposite).

4) Once you have finished:
Put away any materials you have taken out and return CDs and videos to the desk.
Put your computer back on the home page.
Sign out on the register at the entrance.
A photocopier and a printer are also available (5 copies are allowed per person per day)

Rules and Regulations

DO
· Keep conversations at a reasonable volume.
Make suggestions for new educational materials (office).

DO NOT
Use mobile phones.
Bring food or drink.
Mark the materials in any way.
Remove materials from the centre except on loan under special circumstances (ask at the desk).

Lost property will be kept at the desk.
